HOW TO VOTE

This isn't a 'normal' election where you visit a polling station. It's a mail-in vote.

You should have received a ballot package in the mail at your permanent address if your address is up to date on the BC voters list. You fill out that ballot and mail it back to Elections BC in the included envelope.

Just like any election, however, there are criteria that must be met in order for you to cast your vote: you must either be a Canadian citizen or have been a resident of British Columbia for a minimum of six months prior to November 30th 2018 and be over the age of 18 as of November 30th 2018.

It is important to register to vote. The two simplest ways are:

  • Calling Elections BC at 1-800-661-8683 between the hours 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday

  • Filling out the Online Voter Registration form at Elections BC. To complete the form, you will need to provide either a B.C. driver’s license number, B.C. Identification Card number, the last six digits of your SIN number, or the last six digits of your Personal Health number

If for any reason you are out of the province during the voting period, you can provide Elections BC with your temporary address and they will provide you with a voting package. Please ensure that your voter information is up to date, especially if you are a first time voter,  have recently moved, or have recently changed your name. This will guarantee that your referendum voting package will arrive in the mail between October 22, 2018 and November 2, 2018. You can make sure your voter information is up to date by visiting:
