Are you referendum ready?

UVOTEBC IS AN UNBIASED source of information FOR VOTERS IN THE BC REFERENDUM

Created by forty-four Political Science students at the University of British Columbia.

WHO ARE WE?

We are a class of UBC Political Science students creating a resource for the voters of British Columbia. This site is the central activity in our class, POLI308, in the 2018 fall semester at UBC.

We’ve curated case studies of countries with Proportional Representation and First Past The Post voting systems, a media fact checker, podcast, curated news and events, and a summary of current party and MLA stances. Find out more about our team below!

WHAT'S GOING ON?

The referendum allows us to choose what system we should use to elect members to the BC Legislative Assembly. The referendum is being held by mail from October 22 to November 30, 2018. Registered voters will get a voting package in the mail from Elections BC between October 22 and November 2, 2018.

We’re keeping an eye on BC’s media outlets and social media to check out what British ColumbianS and the media are saying about the referendum.

Our media monitoring page shares articles and editorials on all sides of the referendum. We’ll also be watching what people are saying on social media. We'll check out all these arguments and claims and compare them to what is known from the research on electoral systems and their effects.
